Honoring Tom Isaacs, Founder of Cure Parkinson's Trust

In Memoriam

TOM ISAACS

It is with great sadness that we announce that Tom Isaacs, a dear friend of the WPC and recipient of the WPC Award for Distinguished Contribution to the Parkinson Community in 2016, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, May 31, 2017. Tom was the President and Co-founder of The Cure Parkinson’s Trust, and an inspiration to the World Parkinson Congress team and global community. Tom was 49 years old and is survived by his amazing wife, Lyndsey Isaacs, and his global Parkinson’s family.

Tom participated in the World Parkinson Congresses consistently and with great passion when we launched the Coalition in 2004. He spoke at every Congress since our launch and was seminal in the success of the past four WPCs by helping prepare the patient advocate community to engage and participate in the Congress while taking control of their healthcare. He inspired us to start the WPC Ambassador program in 2010, the first of its kind, and he participated over the years on the WPC Steering Committee, WPC Advocates Committee and most recently the WPC Program Committee.

Tom inspired many people with Parkinson’s to engage in clinical trials and to speak out about their Parkinson’s to raise awareness. Tom’s dignity, sense of humor, and incredible ability to carry a tune and give us a good laugh, impacted the lives of thousands of people all around the world.

We are devastated by his death, but inspired by his 20 years of work and passion and are committed to carry on his legacy and vision until a cure for Parkinson’s is found.
